Moisturizers: Game changers for Oily and Acne-prone skin

Should I still use moisturizer even though I have oily and acne-prone skin? "Yes, you still have to use it. "

But why should I still use it? Wouldn't it make me more oily? "No."

There is a difference between oily and hydrated skin.

If a person has oily skin, it means there is too much production of oil glands and also an indicator of dehydrated skin. Your skin lacks water. For instance, you're thirsty, what you will do is you'll drink water for you not to be thirsty. After that, you're not thirsty anymore. Then you'll want less to no more water.

The only difference is that our skin secretes oil to compensate for the lack of moisture on our skin. That is why we get even more oily.

We know that oily skin has higher chances of having pimple breakout because dead skin cells mix up with oil that leads to the clogging of pores.

It is essential to use moisturizer as it hydrates the skin. When our skin is hydrated, less oil is being secreted from our skin since it is already hydrated. It means there is a low chance of having a pimple because of less oil.

Moisturizers also aid in restoring the skin barrier. Our skin barrier gets damaged every time we use extremely drying products.

Why is the skin barrier important? This barrier protects us from outside irritants that can cause pimples. It serves as a barrier that separates the outside environment from the inside.

Always remember that acne-prone skin is already sensitive skin. If you can notice, red skin is common between acne-prone skin and sensitive skin. That is why it is really important to use a moisturizer to take care of the skin barrier.

There are lots of moisturizers available in our local drugstores but if you're oily skin, you should look for the label: water-based, lightweight, gel-type in their description.

You should also watch out for these ingredients as its main purpose is to hydrate the skin.

My personal take on moisturizers is that they are game-changers and a must-have in your skincare regimen. I used to think that moisturizers are just a waste of money, that they do more harm than good for oily and acne-prone skin. I also believed that they are made specifically for dry to normal skin types. But my dermatologist proved to me that my assumptions are wrong. I asked her, how can my skin shed or exfoliate if my face is moisturized? She answered me that even though my face is moisturized, it is still shedding because enzymes require moisture for it to flake off.

By the way, exfoliation is the process of shedding your skin to remove dead skin cells.

With that said, moisturizers are important to the skin to aid skin barrier and to remove dead skin cells.

If you're on a tight budget, I highly recommend Celeteque Hydration Moisturizer. It is one of my holy grail because it contains glycerin and it is really affordable. For the price of  P150, you can get a 50ml moisturizer that can be used up to 1 month. You can read my review here

Meanwhile, if you don't follow a certain budget, it would be better to try Neutrogena Hydroboost. It has hyaluronic acid as it main active ingredient. Hyaluronic acid is popular for it has a higher hydration power compared to glycerin that the Celeteque Hydration Moisturizer has.

iPhone 7 Plus: Still worth it in 2020?

Are you thinking of buying a new phone? Let’s see, you’re not a fan of android, are you? If not, then you’ve come to the right article. Here are the reasons why you should still buy iPhone 7+ in 2020.      I know it’s really hard to pick the right phone for you as the market releases hundreds of phone models every year. It is overwhelming, I know because I’ve been to that position. If I could just grab anything that I think suits me, then everything would be fine. But the thing is, I’m really picky when it comes to phones. I’ve been a fan of the iPhone since 2010, the year that they released their first model.        I’ve tried a lot of Android phones already but the more I use it, the more I want an iPhone. It just that, in all aspects, iPhone wins in everything. I’m not saying Android is not a good product but I believe choosing the right phone is a matter of preference.      5 months ago, I bought myself an iPhone. It is the iPhon...
